Apple Releases iOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1

Apple iPhone Mac

Apple released iOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 yesterday. The release notes for these updates only mention “important bug fixes and security updates,” and Apple recommends all users to install them following the release of iOS 17.2 and macOS 14.2 last week. If you have an iPad, however, there’s no iPadOS 17.2.1 update for you, which is unusual.

With iOS 17.2, Apple introduced a new Journal app, as well as spatial video recording and a new Translate option for the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This update also added Qi2 charging support for all iPhone 13 models and iPhone 14 models, plus AirDrop improvements such as the ability to share boarding passes and more by bringing two iPhones together.

macOS Sonoma 14.2, however, added enhanced Autofill for PDFs and various improvements to the Messages and Weather apps that were also included in iOS 17.2. This update also introduced timer presets and the ability to run several timers simultaneously in the Clock app.

For iPhone and iPad users who have yet to update to iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Apple also released iOS 16.7.4 et iPadOS 16.7.4 yesterday. There are just security updates and Apple hasn’t shared any specific details about them.
