Apple Releases iOS 17.2 With New Journal App

Apple Journal app

Apple today released iOS 17.2, which includes a new Journal app and updates for the Action button, Camera, and more.

“Journal is a new app that lets you write about the small moments and big events in your life so you can practice gratitude and improve your well-being,” Apple writes in the release notes for iOS 17.2. “Journaling suggestions make it easy to remember your experiences by intelligently grouping your outings, photos, workouts, and more into moments you can add to your journal.”

Journal entries are encrypted when an iPhone is locked with a passcode, and users can enable a secondary authentication method to lock the app with Touch ID or Face ID. Apple also released a new Journaling Suggestions API so that third-party developers can suggest moments for users to write about.

In addition to the Journal app, iOS 17.2 includes a new Translate option for the Action button on iPhone 15 Pro series, spatial video capture capabilities and improved telephoto focusing speed on iPhone 15 Pro series, and various improvements to AirDrop, Messages, Siri, Weather and more.
