Microsoft’s Surface Laptop for Business With 5G to Start Shipping on August 26

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 for Business

Microsoft’s 13.8-inch Surface Laptop for Business with 5G will start shipping on August 26, the company announced today. Enterprise customers can also purchase new business versions of the Qualcomm-powered Surface Laptop, 13-inch and Surface Pro, 12-inch starting today.

As you may recall, Microsoft previously released Intel-powered business versions of its Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 back in February. The new Surface Laptop for Business with 5G also comes with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) CPUs, though be aware that there’s no 15-inch version of the laptop with cellular connectivity.

The company said today that adding 5G connectivity to its Surface Laptop has been “one of the most requested features from our business customers.” Microsoft also explained that it has redesigned the internals of the Surface Laptop to integrate a dynamic antenna system that optimizes connectivity across various environments.

“With six strategically placed antennas, the device automatically adjusts signal paths and power based on how it’s being held or used, ensuring strong, reliable connectivity exactly when and where it’s needed.4 As users move between environments, the device seamlessly transitions between 5G and Wi-Fi networks, keeping a steady and secure connection to cloud-based apps, updates, and corporate resources,” explained Nancie Gaskill, General Manager of Microsoft’s Surface business.

The Surface Laptop 5G for Business offers both nanoSIM and eSIM options, and it can also function as a mobile hotspot. IT admins can remotely deploy and manage eSIM profiles and seamlessly manage devices from the Surface Management Portal within the Intune Admin Center.

Microsoft’s Intel-powered Surface Laptop for Business currently starts at $1,499, and pricing information for the new 5G model, which is set to launch on August 26, is not yet available. However, enterprise customers can purchase today the new Qualcomm-powered 12-inch Surface Pro for Business, which starts at $949.99, as well as the new 13-inch Surface Laptop for Business starting at $999.99. The two new devices are available in select markets, and they offer optional anti-reflective displays, an NFC Reader on the Surface Pro 12-inch, and additional security and management features.
