Samsung is adding AirDrop support to its Galaxy smartphones, starting with the latest Galaxy S26 series. This will allow customers to easily share content with nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs using Android’s Quick Share feature.
Google was first to enable this Quick Share/AirDrop interoperability on the Pixel 10 series back in November, and the feature later came to the Pixel 9 family in February. Samsung is one of the biggest manufacturers of Android phones, so it’s good to see AirDrop support also coming to Quick Share on Galaxy devices.
AirDrop support is rolling out first to Galaxy S26 devices in South Korea starting today, March 23. Samsung plans to expand it soon to more regions, including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. Support for additional Galaxy phones will also be announced at a later date.
To enable this new Quick Share/AirDrop interoperability, Galaxy S26 owners will need to go to Settings > Connected Devices > Quick Share, and then turn on the new “Share with Apple Devices” option. This will make Galaxy S26 devices discoverable by Apple devices. However, owners of iPhones, iPads, and Macs need to have their AirDrop settings set to “Everyone” to be visible to Galaxy and Pixel users.
