Samsung Brings AirDrop Support in Beta to More Galaxy Phones

Samsung AirDrop QuickShare Galaxy

Samsung is the first Android phone manufacturer after Google to add AirDrop support to its Galaxy smartphones via the Quick Share feature on Android. This started two weeks ago with the latest Galaxy S26 series, and Samsung is now following up with older Galaxy devices from the S and Z series that can now install the company’s One UI 8.5 beta.

“Building on our ongoing collaboration with Android, Samsung is introducing support for AirDrop through Quick Share on One UI 8.5 beta, enabling more seamless cross-platform file sharing for Galaxy users on select devices, including Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6,” the company said today.

To send content to an Apple device via AirDrop, Galaxy users will need to make sure that the recipient has AirDrop set to “Everyone” to make their device visible. To receive content from an Apple device, Galaxy users will also need to turn on ‘Share with Apple devices’ in Quick Share settings.

Samsung users with eligible devices can register for the One UI 8.5 beta program via the Samsung Members app. The beta is currently available in select markets, including India, Korea, the UK, and the U.S. In addition to the aforementioned devices, Samsung’s One UI 8.5 is also available in beta on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE, and the mid-range Galaxy A36 5G.
