At Microsoft’s Windows 10 device event today, the company announced a slew of new products including the all new Surface Book. I was able to get a few pictures of the device that the company hopes will be your next laptop, or more specifically, a 2-1.
The device hinge on the back that allows it to act in Lenovo Yoga like fashion but the screen detaches so you get a true tablet experience as well. This experience differentiates it from others on the market and makes it a jack of all trades type device with a focus on laptop like stability.

The keyboard has excellent spacing and the keys have good travel, in my early impressions, and the device feels similar to that of the Surface in terms of fit and finish. Of course, you can’t ignore the hinge on the device that is not the most attractive part of the device but it does work well in practice in the few times I was able to detach the display.
Overall, the device has the quality you expect from Microsoft but in a new form factor. This device easily solves the lapability issue the Surface Pro series faced and should give Microsoft more credibility in the hardware space as well.
Paul and I will have a more in-depth preview on the Surface Book shortly.
