Opera Gets Colorful on Android

Opera 54 for Android is a major upgrade for the mobile browser, with colorful new themes, a new design, and crypto support.

“Opera was among the first apps to introduce a dark mode, way before iOS and Android, and now we are preparing our browser for 2020,” Opera’s Stefan Stjernelund says. “Our new UI philosophy is focused on emotions, on how people feel when using the product. They don’t have time and need to get to what they want as quickly as possible. We are addressing this need with our new design.”

The new design, codenamed Squircles internally,  goes beyond dark mode by overhauling the design of the product with 10 new colorful themes, flatter on-screen elements, and smoother edges. Additionally, Opera has shortened transitional animations for better performance.

Opera also applied this notion of getting to features as fast as possible by optimizing access to the browser’s free unlimited VPN, built-in ad blocker, and Crypto Wallet. The browser also includes a free, built-in news service so that users can stay up-to-date on what matters most to them.

Finally, Opera’s Crypto Wallet has been updated to support both Bitcoin and TRON, making it possible to send and receive BTC directly from the browser.

You can download Opera for Android from the Google Play Store.
