
Just ahead of the release of Android 17, Google has delivered several new Android features via the June 2026 Android Drop.
“Today, we’re bringing you features for stronger safety, improved styling, and easier sharing only on Android,” Google Android Platform vice president and general manager Seang Chau writes. “The latest Android updates help you get more from your favorite apps, whether you’re keeping your calls and family safer, searching an entire look in one go, or planning an outfit in your digital wardrobe.”
Here’s what’s new across supported Android versions.
Improved scammer call detection. Google’s Phone app now offers fake call detection so that you can know when a scammer is pretending to call from a number you trust.
Circle to Search improvements. All Android devices with Circle to Search to find any clothing item you see onscreen, including complete outfits.
Google Photos wardrobe. Coming soon, Google Photos for Android in the U.S., India and Brazil will catalog the clothes in your photo gallery so you can mix and match outfits and try them on virtually.
Personal Safety improvements for kids. The Personal Safety app will soon support kids under 13 with new features like displaying medical information, emergency contacts, and car crash detection.
Google Play Books improvements. Google Play Books is rolling out a new Book Insights feature that provides a “Catch me up” recap and the ability to highlight passages and ask questions. This will be in English only first, with select titles.
AirDrop compatibility in Quick Share on more devices. Following its release on Pixel, Galaxy S26 devices, and select other phones, AirDrop compatibility in Quick Share is coming to supported Android devices across the ecosystem.
Emoji Kitchen improvements. Emoji Kitchen now supports new combinations of remixed emojis you can share with others.
