Surface Pro 4 is On Sale Too

Surface Pro 4 is On Sale Too

Earlier today, I wrote about a $250 sale on the base model Surface Book. But there’s an even better sale to be had for Surface Pro 4.

Since its initial release last year, Microsoft has offered five core Surface Pro 4 models, and customization options on some of them. The prices range from $900 for a base model with a Core m3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage to an $1800 high-end model with a Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. If you wanted to, you could spend as much as $2700 on Surface Pro 4: That would net you a Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage.

Note, however, that you would still need to purchase a Type Cover. Prices there vary according to model: The basic Type Cover is $130, but Microsoft also offers Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID (black only), Surface Special Edition NFL Type Covers (various teams), and Surface Pro 4 Signature Type Cover options, all for $160 each. So calculate your full and final price accordingly.

Thanks to a new sale, however, pricing on all Core i5 and Core i7 Surface Pro 4 models—that is, all Surface Pro 4 models save the base Core m3 version—are 20 percent off.

And if you choose the Core i5/8 GB RAM/256 GB storage version of this device, you can now also buy a base Surface Pro 4 Type Cover—in your choice of black, navy blue, bright blue, red, or teal—for just $50.

So let’s do some math. This Surface Pro 4 model usually costs $1300. Add in a Type Cover and the total price is $1430. Thanks to this sale, however, this Surface Pro 4 model is now about $200 off, at $1039.20. And with the Type Cover at just $50, the total price is about $1090. That’s a savings of $350.

The full range looks like so today:

 • Intel Core m3, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage. $900. (Not on sale)
 • Intel Core i5, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage. $800, normally $1000. (Note that this model is now $100 less expensive than the less capable m3 version above.)
 • Intel Core i5, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage. $1039, normally $1300.
 • Intel Core i7, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage. $1280, normally $1600.
 • Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage. $1439, normally $1800.

That middle model is obviously the sweet spot here, but the interesting thing is that that’s always been the case. Thanks to the Type Cover sale, it’s an even better deal.

As with the Surface Book sale, these prices are at the Microsoft Store (retail and online) only, and last through November 28.

Note: Thanks to Neowin for tipping me off to this one.

If someone is part of the Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus rewards program, you get early access to the black Friday deals through end of today (Central time). It’s $600 and includes only the following:

Alcantara Signature Type Cover

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 – 12.3" – 128GB – Intel Core m3 – Bundle with Keyboard

Power Supply

All of the pictures that show the Surface Pen have a disclaimer that the pen is sold separately. But for the moment, it also has a bundle option where the pen only costs $40.

Here’s the link, I’m not sure if it shows the early access price for everyone.

The price jump just for storage is too steep, unless the processor is also upgraded, but even then, too much.I hate when OEMs do that. This is why i built my own rig

Competition is a wonderful thing: Lenovo just dropped the price of the X1 Carbon to $888 for the (i5) and $1490 for (i7w/16GB/512 SSD).
