Microsoft Updates List of Eligible Windows Phones For Insider Program

Today is a big day for Windows phone fans as the company has pushed the big red button and released the operating system for existing devices. In addition to that announcement, the company is also making changes to what phones can be part of the Insider program.

Starting today, the phones listed below are the only ones that can enroll in the pre-release program to try out new builds of Windows 10 mobile. If your phone is not on this list, it is no longer supported in the Insider program and will not receive new builds of Windows 10 mobile.

While the company does not explicitly state why some phones are omitted from the Insider list, in their post announcing Windows 10 Mobile’s release, they do state that “many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience”.

The Insider program has been a huge success for Microsoft as it expands the beta testing of their platforms significantly which helps to identify bugs that may have gone undetected. The program also includes a new feedback channel that has already shown how it can impact product development.
