Windows 10 Mobile Coming To Existing Devices In December

facebook

Earlier today, Microsoft held its Windows 10 device event in NYC and the show was packed with everything from a new Surface Book to new Lumias. The new phones, which you can check out here, are flagships for the company and offer new features like Windows Hello and support for Continuum.

These new phones will also ship with Windows 10 Mobile and if you are wondering when your current device will be upgraded to the new OS, that answer is December.

The information comes from a post on Microsoft’s Lumia Facebook page (that you can see above) where a user asked when their Lumia 640 would be updated and someone from Microsoft responded with December. Of course, we don’t know what day during that month and if that means all devices will get it then as well, but at least we now know a time-frame for its release.

With that being said, if you want to try out the OS today, you can join the Insider program but know that the OS is still buggy and is not suitable for your daily driver.

Of course, with the current crop of Lumias, at least in the flagship category where the phones are showing their age, many users may simply opt to buy a new phone than upgrade their older device.
