Apple Music Adds “Sing” Karaoke Mode

Apple introduced today Apple Music Sing, a new karaoke mode for its music subscription service. Apple Music Sing will launch later this month and it will feature multiple views with animated lyrics to enhance the existing lyrics experience.

“Apple Music’s lyrics experience is consistently one of the most popular features on our service,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “We already know our users all over the world love to follow along to their favorite songs, so we wanted to evolve this offering even further to enable even more engagement around music through singing.

In addition to real-time animated lyrics, Apple Music Sing will offer a Duet view for songs with multiple vocalists, special lyrics animations for background vocals, and adjustable vocal levels for songs. Apple is also adding 50 curated playlists featuring songs to try with this new Apple Music Sing experience.

Apple Music remains the biggest competitor to Spotify in the music streaming space, and this new karaoke feature will join Dolby Atmos spatial audio as one of the service’s main differentiators. Apple Music Sing will be available later this month on all compatible iPhone and iPad models as well as the new Apple TV 4K.
