Spotify’s AI DJ Comes to the UK and Ireland

Spotify Premium subscribers in the UK and Ireland can now test Spotify’s new AI DJ. The feature was previously launched in the US and Canada back in February, and it works as a personalized guide that provides a curated selection of music mixed with commentary from an AI-generated DJ voice.

“When we were deciding where to offer DJ next, the U.K. and Ireland just made sense. We have a team of local music experts on the ground in the region, and it’s where some of DJ’s fundamental technology has been developed,” Spotify said today.

Even though Spotify’s AI DJ is still in beta, Spotify claims that its data shows that it has been encouraging music discovery. The new DJ is also said to help to increase the time users spend on Spotify, especially for Gen Z and millennials.

“We’ve found that when DJ listeners hear commentary alongside personal music recommendations, they’re more willing to try something new (or listen to a song they may have otherwise skipped). On days when users tune in, fans spend 25% of their listening time with DJ—and they keep coming back. More than half of first-time listeners come back to listen to DJ the very next day,” the company explained.
