Amazon Music Unlimited Gets More Expensive for Prime Members

Amazon Music Unlimited

After Amazon raised the price of Amazon Music Unlimited for non-Prime members earlier this year, the music subscription service is now getting more expensive for Prime members as well (via The Hollywood Reporter) In the US, the monthly price of Amazon Music Unlimited for Prime members just went from $8.99 to $9.99 per month (or $99 a year), while the family plan went from $15.99 to $16.99 (or $169 a year).

The price increases currently apply to all new subscribers, while existing subscribers with a Prime subscription will have to pay more starting on September 19. For non-Prime members, Amazon Music Unlimited costs $10.99/month, which is the same as individual plans for Apple Music, YouTube Music Premium, and Spotify Premium.

For Amazon Prime members, Amazon Music Unlimited still remains one of the “cheapest” music subscription services on the market, with over 100 million songs and support for HD and spatial audio for thousands of songs. Just like Spotify, Amazon Music also provides access to a large collection of ad-free podcasts. If you own Amazon Echo devices, you can also cast music from Amazon Music Unlimited to your speakers.

Many subscription services have announced price hikes in recent weeks and months. Last week, Disney announced that starting in October, Disney+ Premium will cost $13.99 per month (previously $10.99/month), while Netflix discontinued its ad-free Basic tier in the US and the UK. On the gaming front, Microsoft also raised the price of Xbox Game Pass for Console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This is the world we live in, and we should get used to subscription services slowly but surely getting more expensive over time.
