Photoshop is Adobe’s most iconic product, and it’s getting several new AI-powered features across the desktop, web, and mobile versions of the app.
“Today we’re introducing new innovations across Photoshop on desktop, web and mobile that eliminate tedious steps, reduce friction, and make precision editing faster and more intuitive, so you can spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time focused on what matters most: bringing your creative visions to life,” Adobe’s Deepa Subramaniam writes. “Whether you’re a designer building assets for a campaign, a photographer retouching fine details, or a content creator producing social assets on the go, we built Photoshop’s latest tools with you in mind.”
Here’s what’s new.
Harmonize (beta). This feature debuted last fall as Project Perfect Blend, and it’s powered by Adobe’s Firefly AI models. It dramatically streamlines the process of adding a new object to a composition by adjusting its color, lighting, shadows, and visual tone to match the existing image. And it works in Photoshop for desktop, web, and, in early access, on iPhone and iPad.
Generative upscale (beta). Available in Photoshop for desktop and web, this feature upscales images up to 8 MP. Adobe says it is one of the most-requested features from the Photoshop community, and it “delivers sharper, more detailed results with minimal effort.”
Remove tool improvements. Adobe updated the Remove tool with the latest Firefly models so that it can clean up images with more precision and quality, eliminating unwanted elements and generating more realistic content fills. This feature is available on desktop and web.
Projects (beta). Projects is a new way to manage, organize, and share your work in Photoshop. It lets you see all the assets in a project in a single place, even if the underlying files are scattered in different places.
Gen AI model picker. This feature lets you choose between different Firefly Image Models–currently, Firefly Image 1 and Firefly Image 3–when using Photoshop’s Generative Fill and Generative Expand tools.
