Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder are Now Native on Windows 11 on Arm

Adobe has released public beta versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder for Windows 11 on Arm.

“We are excited to announce the public beta release of Windows on ARM native support in After Effects and Premiere Pro,” the Adobe announcements read. “We expect After Effects and Premiere Pro to run on all Qualcomm Snapdragon X-based laptops and tablets.”

As these are beta releases, there are still some missing features. Adobe notes that the following features are not available in Premiere Pro for Windows 11 on Arm yet, but they will appear by the final release:

  • Support for 3rd party extensions (including plugins and audio plugins)
  • Support for ProRes, including import and export; using ProRes for proxies, render and replace, or as a sequence setting video preview option
  • Import and export of JPEG2000 in MXF
  • Import of MotionJPEG and MKV
  • Hardware accelerated playback and export of H.264 and HEVC in MP4
  • Support of raw video files including Apple ProRes RAW, ARRI ARRIRAW, Canon Cinema RAW Light, and Sony X-OCN and Sony RAW

Unfortunately, some Premiere Pro features aren’t coming to the native Windows 11 on Arm version of the app, now or in the final release. These include Loudness Radar effect (which has been replaced by Loudness Meter anyway), export to Wraptor DCP, import and export of the GoPro CineForm codec, and export to the P2 Movie format.

For After Effects, Adobe says that the beta has the following issues, though they will be fixed:

  • Lack of format support, mostly notably ProRes, but also including ARRIRAW, SWF, GoPro CinePro, JPEG20000 in MXF, and WMV. These formats cannot be imported or exported, so the High Quality and High Quality with Alpha settings will default (with a warning) to the uncompressed QuickTime codec
  • No import of MotionJPEG and MKV
  • No hardware accelerated playback and export of H.264 and HEVC in MP4
  • Keylight and Mocha are not yet available (there is a warning about them being missing on launch)
  • The Cinema 4D renderer and related C4D features (e.g. Cineware) are not yet available
  • Third-party plug-ins will not work with the native builds and must be updated for WinARM. Adobe is in contact with many third-party developers and will be releasing an SDK update for WinARM

Adobe also notes that After Effects users should be on the latest version of the Qualcomm Adreno GPU driver for the best performance.

Beta versions of Adobe Audition and Media Encoder are also available natively for Windows 11 on Arm.

There are no direct download links, so I assume these releases are available via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app.
