Disney Content is Coming Back to Google TV and YouTube

After Google and Disney recently struck a new multi-year deal to bring back Disney-owned channels on YouTube TV, Disney content is now coming back to Google’s other digital platforms. Indeed, 9to5Google is reporting that Disney movies are once again available on YouTube and Google TV.

This whole saga started when Google and Disney failed to reach an agreement to keep Disney channels such as ABC, ESPN, and FX on YouTube TV. These channels disappeared from YouTube TV on October 30, but Disney also removed its content from the Google Play Store and YouTube, a move likely meant to increase pressure on Google.

To avoid an exodus of subscribers, Google first offered them a $20 credit, but the company eventually reached an agreement with Disney on November 14. The various Disney-owned channels that had been removed returned to YouTube TV that same day, but there was still a Disney-shaped hole on Google’s other digital storefronts.

Well, Disney movies are finally back on Google TV and YouTube, and Google Play/YouTube purchases will also soon return to Movies Anywhere as well. The Disney-operated digital locker had dropped support for Google’s platforms on October 31, but the platform will soon announce when digital purchases on Google Play and YouTube will start syncing again to the service.
