YouTube has started notifying Premium subscribers in the US about upcoming price increases that will affect all tiers (via 9to5Google). The price hikes will come into effect in June, and the individual Plan will cost $15.99/month.
“To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to $15.99/month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube. You will see the change reflected on your June 7, 2026 billing date,” the email reads.
Unfortunately, the YouTube Premium Lite and Family plans are also getting more expensive. Here’s what each plan will cost starting in June:
YouTube last raised the price of its Family plan back in October 2022, and the Individual plan followed in July 2023. This is the first price hike for the new Lite plan, which launched in the US a year ago and recently gained more features, including background play on mobile and offline downloads.
While it’s not clear yet if these price increases will come to other markets, YouTube Premium is still a good value if you want to watch videos on the YouTube app ad-free, offline, and in the background. The subscription also includes YouTube Music Premium, which provides access to over 100 million songs ad-free. Lastly, the YouTube Music app includes podcasts, and it lets you create playlists that mix officially licensed music and YouTube videos of live performances you won’t find anywhere else.
