Spotify is getting serious about fitness after dabbling in workout playlists. Today, the company announced the launch of a new Fitness Hub that will give Free and Premium users access to curated playlists and guided workouts.
The company also teamed up with fitness company Peloton to make over 1,400 ad-free classes available for Premium users in supported markets. “The catalog includes everything from outdoor runs to structured mat-class options across strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation from fan-favorite instructors like Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love, and Rad Lopez—no specialized equipment required,” the company said today.
The company sees this fitness expansion as a way to capitalize on how Spotify users already use the streaming service while working out. Spotify says more than 150 million playlists are actively used on the platform, with its new AI-prompted Prompted Playlist feature seeing a lot of usage from people interested in workout content.
“Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion,” said Roman Wasenmüller, VP, Global Head of Podcasts, Spotify. “But listening was only the beginning. “By bringing thousands of creators and partners like Peloton directly into our video and audio ecosystem, we are investing in a future where Spotify isn’t just where you spend your time—it’s where you go to build momentum, improve your wellbeing, and get more out of every day.”
The majority of the new guided workouts on Spotify are available in English, with some content also available in Spanish and German. Spotify Premium users access our Peloton content by searching for “fitness” or navigating the app’s new Fitness hub. Workout content can also be downloaded for offline access.
