Google Photos 2025 Recap is Now Available

Google Photos 2025 Recap is Now Available

Google Photos rolled out its first-ever Recap one year ago, and it’s back now for 2025 with new features.

“Another year is almost in the books, and it’s time to look back at the moments that made it memorable,” Google Photos senior product manager Tommy Meaney writes. “Recap 2025 turns your photos and videos from the past year into a highlight reel you can enjoy and share.”

As before, Recap highlights memorable photos and moments from the year, pairing them with fun graphics and cinematic effects and familiar photo stats like your top people and total photo count. And if you’re in the U.S., Recap will also showcase “standout hobbies and top highlights from the year.” But there are several improvements, too. Key among them:

  • Selfie count added to the photo stats
  • The ability to hide specific people and places and regenerate the recap
  • A new “Edit with CapCut” button so you can export it to the CapCut video editor, choose from exclusive Google Photos templates, and make a customized version of the recap
  • Simple sharing of short videos and collages for social media and messaging

The Recap will be made available in the Memories carousel in Google Photos starting today. And if you don’t see it immediately, there’s an option to generate it at the top of the app. Once you’ve watched the Recap, it will remain in the back of the Memories carousel and pinned to the Collections tab through the end of December.
