Three years ago, Sonos announced the Era 100 smart speaker as a replacement for the Sonos One. But it hasn’t offered a replacement for the Sonos One SL. Until now.
“Much of consumer tech promises innovation, yet too often delivers isolation, new devices replacing old ones instead of building on what already works,” Sonos CEO Tom Conrad says. “We believe a great sound experience shouldn’t reset every time you add something new. It should get better. Sonos Era 100 SL is a clear expression of what Sonos does best, creating products that feel simple on the surface, but are deeply powerful because of the system behind them.”
The Sonos Era 100 SL joins the Sonos Play, which was also announced today, as the company’s first big set of smart speaker releases since its Sonosgate debacle. As with previous SL models, it lacks the integrated microphones for direct voice control and it costs less than its otherwise identical sibling, at $189 vs. $219. You can also buy a set of two for $378 (though it’s on sale right now for $358).

Sonos is positioning the Era 100 SL as a first smart speaker for those new to the Sonos ecosystem. It offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and line-in capabilities, Trueplay (but only with an iPhone, a regression from the non-SL version), and it can be used in multi-room playback, including as a rear speaker in a home theater setup.
The Sonos Era 100 SL is available now to preorder in Black or White for $189. It will ship March 31, 2026, Sonos says.
