Notifications

Site notifications went live a few weeks back and our web team has been busy fixing bugs and responding to your feedback. If you’ve not yet checked it out, be sure to check out Brad’s post explaining this functionality. But long story short, notifications will help you stay up-to-date on articles, forum posts, and comments, and you can configure it to work the way you want.

Thank you

I also wanted to thank you all for your support and for your patience and understanding as our small team works to keep making this site better every day. I’m privileged to work with people I love and respect, and I feel like we have something special here. Based on the feedback we get, you understand that as well. And that makes the whole thing worth doing.

Thanks, everyone.

–Paul

I had intended to bug you guys about the notifications. I want them off. I like to control my reading, not let a site control it for me. That was a lesson from Franklin Covey, turn off e-mail notifications. You read e-mail on your schedule, not the e-mail's schedule.

P.S. renewed :)

For an active comments article its pretty nuts to get email after email after each comment is made.

Definitely keeping my Alpha subscription. As a feedback from me, I really really love ThurrottNOW, but it is really hard to find on mobile and scrolling through dates should be streamlined, but love it anyway!

Keep up the good work!

Thank You for this ! :D

My Thanks to Tim for resolving my account problems quickly and KINDLY, a rarity these days.

Thanks Paul for all you do but especially for the early heads up for this on Twitter several days ago. You thought you had deleted the Tweet…… hahaha not so fast, I get my Tweets on SMS. So, under Tim's tutelage, I renewed last week for a test and it worked flawlessly on PayPal.

I am a happy customer, {D

Best Regards,

Crysta

Emailed Help to make sure my premium subscription was not auto-renewed somehow. They were quick, polite, and competent. That was much appreciated.

I have to say that the content quality here has diverged from what was promised a year ago. Paul is ragging on everything Microsoft so much that he is pretty much unreadable for someone looking for a technical analysis. It is mostly just comment on how wrong Microsoft is and how he is personally disappointed. Fine. Be that way, but hold up the writing standards. I have stopped reading anything from Paul that starts with "Thinking About" because I have learned that it will not be useful material–just how he would be better at running everything Microsoft.

Mary Jo will write within her scope of interest, but she is excellent at noting the difference between her news and her comments. Paul is not.

You might as well expand the Android and Apple sections of this site because that is what Paul really seems to want to write about. Check the Windows 10 top dropdown above and see what appears. Only one thing there for the main Microsoft OS.

Good luck Brad.

I just renewed my Alpha Membership and am looking forward to another year of great information from the site. Keep up the great work. I did experience one issue when renewing: When I completed the web form for the renewal and clicked the "submit" button, the page went completely gray. Before it came back, I received an email confirmation of my membership renewal. When the page came back, there was no indication that my renewal had been processed. What came back was just the information on the renewal screen. I would have expected there to be a message stating that my renewal had been successfully processed, or a new screen indicating the status of my renewal.
