MS's own personal speaker is running Linux, the cloud infrastructure including the ai is predestined to be run by a small kernel, the graphical interfaces summoned at walls, doors and ceilings will be determined by the service the user is demanding at any given moment in time. And you're kidding yourself if you think, that the services users will be demanding in the iot future would be other services than they use today on their mobile devices. </p><p>Iot is just one natural iteration of mobile. In iot Google and Amazon already have a huge big leap, so MS is indeed well advised to commence at least if they want a chance to play a role.</p>
