Airline boarding attendant story…

So why do people do bad, low quality work?

It's a personality thing that is partly a genetic predisposition.

I have 2 son's – both highly intelligent…

One is a laid back and doesn't take things very seriously – a live and let live kind of guy.

The other son is hyper-focused and highly demanding of himself and other people.

I wouldn't say that one is better oriented than the other.

They are just different.

But, if you are trying to deliver high quality, highly reliable information system technology, you do not want my "laid back" son any where close to your product. He would be great at fulfilling some business roles – just don't let him have anything whatsoever to do with delivery of the product.

Now take Thurrott. I don't necesarily agree with some of the things he says – but, if I were to put together a delivery team… Thurrott has the personality I would want to be on that team.

Paul, you have never been more right. Be happy to be that guy, here, I'm that guy. Slightly less effective than you, but proud to be that guy. You're awesome for this.

Why does Paul keep mentioning the dual GPUs in the computer when he is comparing CPU benchmarks? I know he's a consumer/software guy, not a hardcore hardware guy, but come on. The NUC is not that impressive. It performs exactly the same as any other modern quad core hitting the same clocks.

Paul, I'm starting to think Microsoft *doesn't* know what's wrong with 1809… :-(

Which Huawei Mate 20 did you order? I'm interested in what you think about it.

In reply to baskinrobbin:

Black, 6 GB/128 GB. So far so good. Shiny exterior. Not sure I like the Huawei UI all that much, but doable.

Really liked your airport story. I am occasionally that guy as well. You wondered why you were the only one to complain. Let me just say airlines consider the on boarding call “the cattle call”. Nuff said.
