Ugh, the term "analysis" really needs to be removed from the tagline of this site.

Being able to install Apps outside of the store won't be one of the results of this lawsuit. This is a civil lawsuit and not a criminal lawsuit. So the outcome can only be compensation or restitution. If the government were suing it would be a criminal lawsuit and could result in the courts forcing a change in Apple's business practices. Given that the DOJ filed a amicus brief on the side of Apple I'd say it is doubtful that there is going to be a criminal antitrust lawsuit.

    Do your homework gentlemen.

I just wanted to remind everyone that Google and Apple are not in the same situation when it comes to the app store. Apple only allows apps be installed through their app store and Google allows not only other app stores (amazon app store for one) but also allows you to just download apps and sideload them with your approval. Google really doesn't need to do anything just because Apple is getting into trouble. The end result will be something like Google has done since day 1 of Android.
