"R-Value" is resistance value. - "a measure of the resistance of an insulating or building material to heat flow, expressed as R-11, R-20, and so on; the higher the number, the greater the resistance to heat flow."

Bob Vila was the 1st host of This Old House from 1979-1989, Norm Abram was and still is the master carpenter; there have been 2 more hosts since Bob left: Steve Thomas and Kevin O'Connor. Bob went on to host his own show: Bob Vila's Home Again.

I miss Bob testing rotten floors by jumping on them and poorly hammering in a single nail before handing off the work to the carpenters, none of whom were pleased with Bob's showmanship.
