Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Enable OneDrive folder protection

You’re getting folder protection! And YOU’RE getting folder protection!

Bonus tip: Buy Any Xbox One, Get a Free Copy of Madden NFL 19

App pick of the week: Google Chrome

I strayed. But I’m back. And Chrome 68 supports native Windows 10 notifications now (or soon will).

Enterprise pick of the week: BizTalk v.Next

Yes, Virginia: Another on-prem version of BizTalk is coming. But more interestingly, some Azure integration services are being brought to on-prem next year.

Codename pick of the week: Madrid

That ‘InPrivate Desktop Security” feature that may or may not be part of Redstone 5 is codenamed Madrid. Interestingly, it’s one of several Spanish city themed codenames that Microsoft has been using for security features. Others include “Barcelona” (WDAG) and “Seville” (WDATP).

Beer pick of the week: AleSmith Vietnamese Speedway Stout

In honor of TWiT’s Vietnamese lunch today, here’s an amazing imperial stout from Alesmith Brewing in San Diego. It’s a big one at 12%, but wow is it good. Made with a blend of 4 Vietnamese coffees.

Mark your calendars:

Ignite 2018 in Orlando: Windows Weekly will be live at the show on Tuesday, September 25. No RSVP – attendees can come to the podcast center and join. Meetup is happening too. Details to come.

Dublin or bust: We’re going to Dublin in October and will be doing Win Weekly live from the MicroWarehouse cloud camp. October 17. There will be a meetup, too. Details to come.

WHY is this "Your Phone" such a big thing? If you have OneDrive your photos already sync. Sheesh.

Maybe YOU call Tablet Mode "stupidity", but some of us prefer to always be in that mode all the time. The snap-assist gets me at least closer to how Windows 8 worked, which in my opinion is infinitely better.

I guess the Known Folders thing isn't a biggie for me because EARLY on with OneDrive I changed my default folder locations for Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc. (basically, all Library folders) to BE on my OneDrive. So, all that stuff has always been sync'd for me.
