Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Windows 10 Field Guide

I’ve completed updating the book for Windows 10 version 1903 (and 19H2). It’s a miracle.

App pick of the week: Windows Terminal

The future of command lines in Windows 10 looks solid.

Enterprise pick of the week: Azure Dedicated Host

Now in preview, this feature is for folks who want to run their workloads on a tenant just for them. But the more interesting piece is the licensing changes around this, which are (surprise) confusing and restrictive especially if you want to use Microsoft software in other clouds.

Enterprise pick No. 2: Your Home Use Rights just changed, enterprise users.

As predicted (by me, thanks to sources), you don’t have rights to discounted Office “perpetual” anymore. It’s Office 365 or the highway.

Beer pick of the week: Talea Beer

This week in NYC, it’s “Beers Without Beards” — a week of beer activities involving breweries that are founded/owned/managed by women. (The festival on Saturday in Bushwick is open to all, not just women). So what about a beer pick by a women-owned/founded brewery? Check out Talea Beer. They make several styles, but their pale ale is really well done.
