Google’s G Suite now has more than 2 billion monthly active users. Ex-Microsoft executive Javier Soltero, who now leads G Suite at Google, announced the milestone to Axios this week.
G Suite, which includes Gmail, Google Docs, Hangouts, and other apps, reached the milestone at the end of 2019. The 2 billion monthly active users figure includes both free and paid G Suite users.

Soltero did not reveal exactly how many paid users G Suite currently has. The 2 billion monthly active users figure also includes Gmail users, and Soltero didn’t reveal how many of those users use other G Suite apps that are not Gmail.
“That’s a staggering number … these products have incredible reach. Changing the way people work is something we are uniquely positioned to do,” he said.
Soltero says he’s focusing on G Suite features that make the product unique. He also agrees that there’s more work to be done on G Suite products. “This is not a solved problem. Nobody has run the table on communication and collaboration,” Soltero stated. As part of his effort to make G Suite more unique, Soltero teased Google’s plans to bring Gmail’s smart compose feature to more products beyond Gmail and Google Docs.
Google is also apparently working on better integrating all the separate G Suite apps.
