New Windows 11 Insider Build Brings OneDrive Information

Microsoft has just released the Windows 11 Insider build 25145 for testers in the Dev Channel. There are two new features in this build including Narrator Braille driver support and OneDrive subscription information in the Settings app.

The company had already started adding Microsoft 365 subscription information in the Windows 11 Settings app, and today’s build 25145 does the same for OneDrive standalone 100GB subscriptions. After installing this build, information about recurring billing, payment method, and OneDrive storage usage will appear in Settings > Accounts.

The app will also show a banner to alert users when their OneDrive is almost full. The Windows Insider team said that this new feature will only roll out to a subset of Insiders in the Dev channel, which has become a common theme for new features.

Starting with today’s build 25145, the legacy Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) product also becomes a native part of Windows. This tool lets IT pros manage local account passwords of domain-joined computers. Microsoft says that LAPS now includes new features for Active Directory domain-joined clients, though Azure Active Directory support is still limited to a subset of Insiders.

Today’s build also brings the Suggested Actions feature that made its debut in the build 25115 to all Insiders in the US, Canada, and Mexico. As a reminder, this feature can suggest relevant actions relevant when you copy a date, time, or phone number, and the suggestions include creating calendar events or making phone calls.

As usual, various bug fixes are also included in this build. The most important one to mention is the issue that was causing Surface Pro X devices to hit a black screen when attempting to resume from hibernate, which has now been fixed in this build.

Sure! The issue is that Windows didn’t start that way, it just became that way when Microsoft failed in the mobile space.

Whereas say MacOS is much less that way than Windows.

That may be true, but Apple hardware is much more expensive than their PC counterparts. You want cheap garbage? Be prepared to have to pay for it in some way or another.

We’re talking about Microsoft who makes the OS. Not the cheap PCs.

…. and my move to Linux (except for gaming) a year ago is more satisfying each build of Windows 11 that is dumped on an unsuspecting audience.

Native LAPS and LAPS AAD support in particular is a big deal.
