Windows 11 Insider Build 22621.1192 Lands on the Release Preview Channel

Microsoft has just released the Windows 11 build 22621.1192 for Insiders on the Release Preview channel. With this build, Microsoft is introducing a change to make the upgrade process to Windows 11 version 22H2 a bit more seamless.

To reduce the number of reboots users see when upgrading to the latest Windows 11 release, Windows Update will now download and install the latest security fixes and .NET updates all at once. That includes this month’s optional update, which Microsoft just made available in advance for Release Preview Insiders.

“Starting this month, when customers upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2, they will get the January optional quality update (KB5022360) and the .NET update alongside the Feature Update,” the Windows Insider team explained. “This means when you upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2 you will get the feature update with the latest and greatest security fixes for both Windows and .NET– all with only a single reboot!”

Today’s build also introduces a new experience for installing preview .NET framework updates in Windows Update, which is something that Microsoft has already been testing with Beta Channel insiders. After installing this build, preview .NET Framework updates will be available to download from Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.

The Windows 11 build 22621.1192 also includes various quality improvements, including a fix for an issue that was preventing Office apps, Widget apps, and other apps that use Microsoft Edge WebView2 to display content. Microsoft also addressed a bug that was causing PCs to not go to Sleep mode when some game controllers were connected to them.
