New Windows 11 Insider Builds Are Available for Canary and Dev Channel Testers

Microsoft has released today two new Windows 11 Insider builds for testers on the Canary and Dev Channel. The Windows 11 Canary build 25977 improves accessibility with Bluetooth LE Audio and adds a new option to control which apps can access the list of Wi-Fi networks. The Dev build 23570, however, only brings multiple monitor support for Windows Copilot and a couple of bug fixes.

What’s new in the Canary build 25977

If you have a device that supports the new Bluetooth Low Energy Audio standard, the Canary build 25977 lets Insiders easily pair, stream audio, and take calls on hearing aids with Bluetooth LE Audio. “In upcoming flights, we will be introducing additional capabilities to the hearing aids experience on Windows, such as controlling audio presets directly within Windows settings,” the Windows Insider team said today.

The Canary build 25977 also introduces new location access prompts when apps try to access your location or Wi-Fi information. Additionally, Insiders can go to Settings > Privacy & security > Location to choose which apps can access the list of Wi-Fi networks around them, which can be used by apps to determine their location.

The last new feature in this build is SMB over QUIC client access control, which improves the existing feature that provides an alternative to TCP network transport. “With this new option, administrators can restrict which clients can access SMB over QUIC servers. This option gives organizations additional SMB over QUIC connection protections but does not change the Windows authentication used to make the SMB connection or the end user experience,” the Windows Insider team explained.

What’s new in the Dev build 23570

The Dev build 23570 brings the ability to access Windows Copilot across multiple monitors. This works by simply clicking the Copilot shortcut on the taskbar on the monitor where you want to open Copilot. If you use Win +C to summon the AI assistant, it will also appear on the last monitor where it was used.

In this build, Microsoft has also fixed a couple of issues that could cause the OS to hang when opening File Explorer. Another bug that was causing search on the taskbar to crash in recent builds has also been fixed.

If you use the Xbox Game Bar, an app update coming via the Microsoft Store will change the name of the app to just “Game Bar.” This change is also rolling out to Insiders on the Canary Channel.
