New Windows 11 Builds Are Available for Insiders in Canary and Dev Channels

Windows 11 Fall Update

Microsoft has released today two new Windows 11 preview builds for Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels. The Canary build 25997 brings the ability to disable the Phone Link feature in the Bluetooth section of the Settings app, and it will also display Teams contacts in the Windows share window if you’re signed in with a Microsoft Entra ID on your device.

If you’ve been encountering “0x80004005” errors when trying to install recent Canary builds, Microsoft says that this issue should now be fixed. Moreover, Microsoft fixed an issue causing some Insiders to see more bugchecks than usual after installing last week’s Canary build 25992.

For Insiders on the Dev channel, the build 23590 introduces a couple of Narrator improvements. Testers can now listen to previews for 10 natural voices (Chinese, Spanish, Spanish (Mexico), Japanese, English, French, Portuguese, English (India), German and Korean) before downloading the full voice model.

Microsoft also improved the image consumption experience in Narrator with a new keyboard shortcut (G or Shift + G) to navigate forward or backwards between images in Scan mode. When the focus is on an image, Insiders can also try the Narrator key + CTRL + D key combination to get a better description of that image. In Word, Narrator is getting the ability to announce the presence of draft comments, resolved comments, or accessibility suggestions.

The Dev build 23590 also includes various bug fixes for the new version of File Explorer. Microsoft addressed an issue causing the app to crash on launch for some testers, and it should also no longer crash when entering paths into the address bar.
