Microsoft is Bringing Sports, Traffic, and Finance Updates to the Windows 10 Lock Screen

Microsoft is planning to add more information to the Windows 10 lock screen really soon. Yesterday, the company released a new build on the Release Preview Channel for Windows 10 Insiders that adds sports, traffic, and finance content to the lock screen.

The Windows Insider team said that these lock screen changes will roll out gradually to Windows 10 testers. However, it will still be possible to mask this additional lock screen information in lock screen settings.

As you probably know, Microsoft recently introduced a new weather card on the Windows 11 lock screen, but the ability to see sports, traffic, and finance content isn’t available yet. Maybe it will come eventually, but Microsoft usually does things the other way around, with new features coming first to Windows 11.

Anyway, the second new feature in the Windows 10 Insider update released yesterday is the option to use Windows Spotlight as the desktop wallpaper. Microsoft previously introduced this new Windows Spotlight capability on Windows 11, so this is another example of a Windows 11 feature being backported to what remains the most popular version of Windows.

The Windows 10 update released for Insiders yesterday should become available as an optional update for all Windows 10 users later this month. The public rollout is expected to follow in next month’s Patch Tuesday update.
