April Patch Tuesday Update Enables “Moment 5” Features on Windows 11

Microsoft has just released today the April Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 users. The KB5036893 update for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2 enables the “Moment 5” features that Microsoft first made available for early enthusiasts in late February, before expanding the rollout with the optional update released in the last week of March.

Use Copilot without signing in: Windows 11 users can now ask the AI assistant for help ten times without signing in to Windows with a personal Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID account.

Voice Access improvements: The accessibility feature is now available in more languages (French, German, Spanish), and Voice Access features now work on multiple displays. Users can also create custom commands with the new Voice shortcuts.

Narrator improvements: Windows 11 users can now preview the ten natural voice options in Narrator before downloading them

New Windows Share targets: The Windows Share menu now supports sharing via WhatsApp and Microsoft Teams.

Nearby Share improvements: The AirDrop-like feature can now be enabled from the Quick Settings menu, and transfer speeds have been improved for users on the same network public or private network.

Snap layout suggestions: Windows 11 users will now see suggestions when they try to snap multiple app windows together.

More content on the Lock Screen: Sports, traffic, and finance content can now be displayed on the lock screen, in addition to weather information. This feature is rolling out gradually and can be turned off in Lock Screen settings.

Windows 365 improvements: Windows 365 Boot is getting a fast account switcher experience and a dedicated mode that signs users into their Windows 365 Cloud PC on startup. Windows 365 Switch is also adding an easier way to disconnect from Task View. There are also new “Cloud PC” and “Local PC” desktop indicators when users switch between them.

For Windows 10 users, the KB5036892 patch is also available for the versions 22H2 and 21H2 of the OS. With this update, Microsoft is also rolling out sports, traffic, and finance content on the lock screen. A new option to use Windows Spotlight as your desktop wallpaper is also rolling out gradually.
