Microsoft released the Windows 11 Insider build 22635.3646 for testers on the Beta Channel yesterday. This is another update based on Windows 11, version 23H2, as Microsoft has yet to make the upcoming version 24H2 available on this Channel. If you missed it earlier this week, Microsoft made the next annual Windows 11 update is now available on the Release Preview Channel via the “seeker” experience.
Brandon LeBlanc from the Windows Insider team acknowledged that Windows 11 version 24H2 coming to the Release Preview Channel before the Beta Channel was unusual. However, this change is said to be temporary.

“Beta Channel will continue to receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 for right now to support development for improvements on that codebase as 24H2 isn’t going to generally available until later this year,” LeBlanc explained on X. “If people in Beta want to move to Windows 11, version 24H2 they can do so by moving to RP or move up to Dev. We don’t do active development of features and improvements in RP, that’s done in Beta, Dev, etc. I realize this is a change but its also not going to be forever either,” he added.

Anyway, let’s get back to yesterday’s Beta build 22635.3646. This new flight includes no new features, but testers who turned on the Windows Update toggle to get the latest updates as soon as they’re available will receive “a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience.” This update will also add Microsoft’s PC Manager app to devices in China.
In the list of improvements coming to all Insiders on the Beta Channel, the Windows Insider team mentioned a fix for an issue causing Chromium-based browsers to distort parts of the screen when a video is playing. This update also addresses an issue where Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio accessories don’t show the option to connect or disconnect.
The Windows Insider team said yesterday that this new Beta build would be the last Insider flight for the week. Overall, it’s been quite a busy week on the Microsoft side with all the announcements coming from the company’s Build developer conference. Next month should be just as interesting as the first Copilot+ PCs, including Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, will be coming to market.
