New Copilot App is Rolling Out on the Beta and Release Preview Channels

Microsoft has started rolling out its new Copilot experience to Insiders on the Beta and Release Preview Channels. This is the new standalone Copilot app that can be resized and moved around the screen like a regular Windows app, and this new experience is also available on Windows 11 version 24H2.

The Windows Insider team announced the rollout via a series of posts on X, and the blog posts for the latest Windows 11 and Windows 10 builds for the Beta and Release Preview Channels have also been updated. Yes, this new Copilot experience is also coming to Windows 10 Insiders on these same two channels.

Copilot on Windows initially launched as an Edge window that’s pinned to the right side of the desktop. With this change, Copilot will be pinned to the taskbar alongside other pinned apps, and it will no longer appear on the right side of the system tray on the taskbar.

The Windows Insider team previously explained that this new Copilot experience will allow the company “to more agilely develop and optimize the experience based on user feedback.” However, this is still an Edge web app underneath.

Please note that the initial markets for this Copilot in Windows preview only include North America, the UK, and parts of Asia and South America. Lastly, managed commercial devices won’t receive this new Copilot experience.
