Microsoft to Hold Surface and Windows Event on October 7

Microsoft will hold an event in San Francisco on October 7 where CEO Satya Nadella, EVP of Windows and Devices Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will discuss the “latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem.” The event follows IFA 2026 in Berlin, where NVIDIA and its partners announced that new PCs powered by its RTX Spark chip will arrive in October 2026.

Microsoft has been working with NVIDIA and its PC partners to accelerate local AI on Windows. The company’s Surface Laptop Ultra, which was first announced at Build 2026 in June, will likely get some stage time during the event. It will likely be quite expensive, just like other PCs using Nvidia’s ARM-based RTX Spark chip, but the Windows ecosystem needs a response to Apple’s new Mac lineup with M6 and M5 Ultra chips.

In late August, Microsoft also made Windows 11 version 26H2, the next feature update for the OS, available for Insiders on the Release Preview Channel. The company may use the upcoming event to announce the public rollout for the update, which will be delivered to Windows 11 users as an enablement package.

Microsoft’s October 7 event in San Francisco will precede the company’s Ignite conference in the same city on November 17-20. You can already register for the event on this page, though the full session catalog isn’t available yet.
