Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15046 is Now Available on the Fast Ring

I was rushing out the door when this happened, but last night, Microsoft delivered Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15046 to the Fast ring.

As you might expect given the lateness in the schedule, this build doesn’t introduce any major new features. But it does include a number of changes and improvements.

Cortana search box. After experimenting with a lighter color for the Cortana search box over the past few builds, Microsoft has reverted it to the original color.

Windows Defender improvements. Windows Defender Security Center now has its own icon in the system tray. And you can launch this new experience from the Settings app.

Pick up where you left off with Cortana changes. The “pick up where you left off” feature in Cortana continues to be a source of experimentation for some reason. Now, Cortana will proactively shows you apps, files and websites from Microsoft Edge. (This feature previously displayed websites from Microsoft Edge in Action Center only.)

Translations improvements. Microsoft has improved translations throughout the system, but most notably in Setup (OOBE) and Settings.

Gaming settings improvements. Based on negative feedback, Microsoft reversed the design of the Gaming settings icon to make it more consistent with the other icons in that app.

Choose where apps can be installed from. I wrote about this the other day, but Microsoft is finally discussing this new feature.

There’s more, of course, mostly minor, but check out the release notes for the full list. Note that this build does not fix the issue I highlighted yesterday, and that Microsoft’s workaround does not work either.

<p>You know MS doesn't consider the issue you highlighted yesterday an issue. It is by design, so doesn't need to be fixed. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

<p>Is anyone else on the Slow Ring and getting frustrated with the Insider Program? I don't think we've gotten a build since December of last year. I thought the idea behind the Slow Ring was that it would be more stable; instead, it seems like you still get buggy builds but are just stuck with them longer. :(</p>
