Microsoft Ships Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15055

One week after its previous drop for Fast ring testers, Microsoft has delivered Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15048 for PCs.

And as with that previous build, there’s not much to say this time around: There are no new features at all. Which makes sense, given that we’re days away from the completion of Windows 10 version 1703, which will be provided to users on new PCs and, for those with Windows 10 already, via the Creators Update.

You can check out the Microsoft blog post for a list of changes, improvements, and fixes, plus a few known issues. Nothing major in either case.

That said, I’m curious if there are any surprises waiting Fast ring testers. Perhaps a nice UX update to Groove? 🙂

Groove did indeed get a minor UX update. Very minor, but it's there. Of course none of the three new-style UX's actually match.

Paul – I think there's a number you want to update in that first sentence :-)

Known issues again notes the potential for some app updates to fail, and resetting the app from Settings as a cure. I saw that on the Store and Feedback apps, and resetting did indeed fix it, though had to reset twice on the Store. Just an FYI as the reset feature in Apps in the control panel is a bit hidden, under advanced options for each app. I've found it does cure a lot of issues, especially on the inbox apps that can't be uninstalled/reinstalled without scripting.

Had an issue with my Surface 3 coming out of sleep on the last build. Had to force it down every time with a power button reset. That seems to have been fixed for me.

Should correct your text in first sentence to read 15055 to match your headline. 15055 is the latest build.

Seems in these last two builds that EDGE is working much better, especially on FB!

I have it on both my lumia1520 and this PC. Nothing much has changed. There is a bug that is back though. My PC will not restart on its own. Had this problem a few builds back but it was fixed and now is broken again. Maybe the RTM will fix it.

There's a store app bug where apps won't update. Which is ironic seeing as the fast ring users aren't seeing app updates yet anyway due to Microsoft still testing the RTM apps versions.

I can no longer start Groove with this update nor can I update the store app.

Similar story here. Store crashed repeatedly on trying to install apps, error 0x80070002. Groove disappeared functionally, icon remained, weirdly renamed 'Twinui', and wouldn't launch or repair. Attempted fixes recommended that I use a Microsoft account, which I was of course. After two hours of frustration I rolled back to 15048. All seems good again. I haven't had this much trouble with a build for months and we're close to release? Oh and my Lumia 950 updated to 15055 at 2am my time here in New Zealand having been updated to 15051 earlier this week. Exciting times…
