Windows 10 Redstone 4 RTM Released to Insiders

HP Envy x2 (Qualcomm) Review Check-In: App Compatibility

It’s time. Microsoft is almost ready to release the Windows 10 Redstone 4 update, also known as the Spring Creators Update.

As we head into April, Redmond is today releasing build 17133 of Windows 10. We believe build 17133 is the RTM build of the Spring Creators Update, which means this is the build that will be released to all Windows 10 users next month. But if you are a Windows Insider, you can get your hands on the near-final version of the update today by installing the latest update. Microsoft will likely have zero-day fixes when the update is released.

Microsoft is yet to confirm an official release date for the Spring Creators Update, but going by previous releases, the company will likely start the rollout of the update on the 10th of April, or Patch Tuesday for April. The release will be a phased rollout, which means you may not get the update straight away as Microsoft will be slowly rolling out the update to ensure the most seamless update experience possible for users and identify critical bugs quickly before the update is rolled out to everyone.

If this build is also released to Slow Ring and Release Preview, it will most likely be the one that everybody gets starting in April with cumulative updates. In other words, has the Magic Window started?

So how screwed up will we be, and for how long, after this Update?

I genuinely don't care anymore for these 'as a service' updates. I value stability, reliability and consistency way more. What will this next update break I wonder? How many machines will be totally borked during the upgrade? These 'feature' upgrades are usually done on a wing and a prayer (more like a prayer actually). Last update I did was CU to FCU, which trashed the machine, so had to do a fresh, manual install of FCU. I haven't updated since.

My nuc has locked up on me completely twice today already since installing 17133. Never had any stability issues on this machine previously. Sigh.

If 17133 is RTM, then what is build 17134.5? I cannot tell you the date it was installed as the View update history window is blank.

This will be a moot question by tomorrow. However, I am curious now.
