Windows 10 Got a Week D Preview Update Too

It’s not just Windows 11: Microsoft also issued a Cumulative Update Preview release for Windows 10 yesterday, during Week D, that adds several new features for those who wish to install them early.

It’s not quite a Moment release, but KB5035941 updates Windows 10 version 22H2 to build 19045.4239 and adds a handful of new features. These features will ship in stable on the next Patch Tuesday, which is April 9:

Windows Spotlight desktop. As with Windows 11, you can now configure Spotlight, previously exclusive to the lock screen, as the Windows 10 desktop background. Assuming it works correctly—it’s been buggy on Windows 11—you should see a new Bing desktop image daily.

New lock screen cards. In testing for approximately 17 minutes, this feature builds on the Weather lock screen card that shipped previously and adds new cards for Sports, Traffic, and Finance.

Windows 11 upgrade invitation. Those with eligible PCs will start to see messages that invite you to upgrade to Windows 11.

Note that each of the new features are being deployed as Controlled Feature Releases (CFRs), so you may not see them immediately.

In addition to the new features, KB5035941 also a fix for a touch keyboard issue, several quality updates, and improvements to the servicing stack.
