It’s just one day before Windows 10’s July 29 soft launch, but Dell has a little surprise for customers who preordered new PCs running Windows 10: it is shipping those pre-orders today for delivery tomorrow, July 29. That’s one day earlier than previously expected, and it matches HP’s launch day delivery promise.
“To ensure you get your new Windows 10 device first, purchase now and Dell will start shipping your system on July 28 with free next-business-day shipping,” Dell’s Allison Drew writes in a post to the Direct2Dell blog. “Additional Windows 10 configuration options will be available on Dell.com, as well as from leading retailers such as Best Buy on July 29.”
Separately, Dell told me that about 70 PC configurations with Windows 10 are now available for preorder on Dell.com and that over 50 Dell systems will be available from leading electronics retailers starting July 29.
“Dell’s goal is to offer more systems than any company online and through retail partners,” a Dell representative said. “And Dell’s proactive service solutions will extend simple, hassle-free support to select Windows 10 devices.”
A few other interesting tidbits about Dell’s Windows 10 launch presence:
Dell was the first PC maker to offer Windows 10 PC pre-sales, starting back in mid-June
Dell will have the most Windows 10 PC configuration options available from retailers on July 29th. Best Buy alone will feature 12 Dell solutions with Windows 10, Dell tells me, “by far the most of any other PC maker.
@DellLounge in Chicago. Beginning July 30th, Dell will host a #DellLounge Powered by Windows 10 Pop-Up in Chicago to showcase Windows 10 on Dell PCs. This four-day event will provide interactive demos, programming and entertainment, Dell says, and will overlook Grant Park and coincide with the Lollapalooza music festival. So sort of a Central by Central West, if you will.
