Tiny11 2311 Fully Supports Windows 11 Version 23H2, Is Even Smaller

Tiny11 2311

Tiny11 is a project aimed at making Windows 11 smaller and less resource intensive and the latest version is even better, with a 20 percent size reduction, full support for Windows 11 version 23H2, and a simpler naming scheme.

“With a new, easier to understand naming scheme and a number of major improvements, tiny11 2311 is finally here,” project maintainer NTDEV writes on its Internet Archive homepage. “Based on the actual 23H2 release of Windows 11, the new release is a whopping 20 percent smaller than the old tiny11 23H2 image it replaces, while being even more functional.”

The “more functional” bit addresses a key concern I had when I first evaluated Tiny11 back in February: It’s now fully serviceable, meaning that it will automatically download and install any Windows Updates that Microsoft releases for the normal installs of Windows 11 version 23H2. NTDEV notes that you can even enable Copilot in this release, though you will have to install Microsoft Edge first (using winget). And while the Xbox components are not installed by default, if you install an Xbox game from the Store, they will be enabled and will work normally.

“Tiny11 2311 fixes most, if not all of the nagging issues with previous releases of Tiny11, all while being smaller and even more flexible,” NTDEV adds.

Tiny11 is available as a 3.5 GB ISO file via a direct download or via torrent. (By comparison, the Windows 11 version 23H2 ISO is 6.2 GB.) I will look at this today and determine whether it warrants inclusion in the Windows 11 Field Guide.
