New Windows 11 Dev Channel Build Improves Teams and Phone Integration

Today, Microsoft released Windows 11 build 23619 to PCs enrolled in the Dev channel of the Windows Insider Program. It includes a few interesting new features and a lot of fixes.

First, users with an Entra ID account (formerly Azure Active Directory) running Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise will see their next Teams meeting in the Recommended section in Start 5 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. You can click this item to join the meeting.

The second new feature is perhaps more compelling and is accessible by those in the Canary channel as well.

Back in September, Microsoft tested a feature called Remote capture that allowed Phone Link users with Android phones to access and edit their most recent photos directly from Snipping Tool, but that feature mysteriously and silently disappeared after making its way to the Release Preview channel. Today, we learned that this feature has been replaced by a more proactive version of this functionality.

There are three pieces: A new Mobile devices interface in Settings, a Device Experience Host update that comes from the Microsoft Store, and new banner notifications in Windows 11 that fire whenever you take a photo or screenshot with your phone. To enable this new cross-device experience, open Settings, navigate to Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices, and choose “Manage devices.”

Interesting.
