ExplorerPatcher Updated for 24H2, Windows 11 on Arm

ExplorerPatcher

Valentin Radu’s useful ExplorerPatcher now supports Windows 11 version 24H2, including Arm64, and a new Taskbar implementation that bypasses Microsoft’s feature deprecations.

“This project aims to enhance the working environment on Windows,” the ExplorerPatcher page on GitHub explains in a humorous downplaying of its capabilities. In short, it’s a Windows 11 de-enshittification utility.

The app allows you to choose between the Windows 10 and Windows 11 Taskbars and Alt + Tab implementations, disable the Windows 11 context menus and File Explorer command bar, and open Start to All Apps by default, and it offers several other user interface tweaks that many will find useful. ExplorerPatcher works in Windows 10 and 11, but some of its features are Windows 11-specific. You can see the full feature list on GitHub.

ExplorerPatcher is free, though the developer accepts donations if you’d like. You can download it GitHub. Version 22621.3880.66.6, issued today, is the first to work with 24H2/Windows 11 on Arm (the download links are hiding behind an “Assets” toggle). And it’s the first to come with a malware flag from Microsoft, which the developer notes “indicates Microsoft’s hatred against this software, not because this contains a virus or such.”
