Microsoft Issues New 23H2 Build in Beta Channel

Windows Insiders with PCs enrolled in the Windows Insider Program’s Beta channel have a new Windows 11 23H2 build to consider. It appears to be one step forward, one step back.

Cumulative update KB5055623 is now available. It will upgrade Windows 11 version 23H2 to build 22635.5170.

New features and changes include:

File Explorer changes. Microsoft previously tested a change to File Explore by which it would open with a new tab when you launched the app outside of File Explorer, but it temporarily disabled that feature in a previous build. This functional change is back in this new build.

Explorer context menu regression. Microsoft originally intended to add 24H2-style labels to commands in Desktop and File Explorer context menu that previously lacked labels (Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Share, and Delete). It tested this feature and then pulled it. And now it is recommending that Insiders in the Beta channel who wish to use this feature upgrade to 24H2 instead.

Fixes. This build also includes fixes for issues with Start, File Explorer, and Input.

And that’s about it.
