Microsoft issued a Week D Preview Update for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 today, ahead of the next Patch Tuesday and their release to stable.
Preview Update KB5074105 is now available in Windows Update. It will upgrade Windows 11 version 24H2 to build 26100.7705 and Windows 11 version 25H2 to build 26200.7705. And, yes, this is the same set of updates that Microsoft recently shipped to the Release Preview.
Here’s what’s new.
Agent in Settings (Copilot+ PCs only). The Settings Agent now supports more languages, including German, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, and Chinese (Simplified).
Cross Device Resume. Microsoft added Cross‑Device Resume to Windows 11 last May, allowing those with Android phones to continue certain activities, including resuming Spotify playback, working in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and continuing a browsing session, from their Android phone on their PC. With this update, Vivo Android phone users can continue browsing from Vivo Browser on their PC and those with an Android phone from HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, vivo, or Xiaomi can resume online files that were opened in the Copilot app on the phone and continue working on them on their PC. “Files open in the corresponding Microsoft 365 app on your PC if it is installed,” Microsoft notes. “If the app is not installed, the files open in your default web browser. This feature does not support offline files stored only on your phone.”
Windows MIDI Services improvements. This update brings enhanced support for MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0, including WinMM and WinRT MIDI 1.0 support with built-in translation, shared MIDI ports across apps, custom port names, loopback and app-to-app MIDI, plus performance improvements and bug fixes.
Smart App Control improvements. Smart App Control can now be toggled on and off normally. Previously, once it was off, it couldn’t (officially) be re-enabled.
**Windows Hello New ESS improvements. Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security (ESS) now supports external fingerprint sensors that can be used with desktop PCs, including Copilot+ PCs. You will need to find a supported ESS fingerprint reader first, of course.
Other improvements. Narrator, Settings, Voice Access, and Voice Typing all received minor improvements as well.
