
Apple held its big hardware event yesterday where it revealed its latest iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods Pro 3, which will all be released on Friday, September 19. On Monday, September 15, the company will also release iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, and tvOS 26.
The announcement came yesterday alongside the release of new release candidates versions of the major software updates. The company also dropped new release candidates versions of iOS 18.7, iPadOS 18.7 yesterday, with new beta updates also available for iOS 15, iOS 26, iPadOS 15, and iPadOS 26.
With its upcoming major releases, Apple is introducing a new “Liquid Glass” design language across all of its software platforms. iOS 26 will also let users communicate across languages with Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, the Visual Intelligence feature will let users ask questions and take action with the content on their screen.
For iPad users, iPadOS 26 finally brings a macOS-like windowing system, with the ability to access downloaded files, documents, and more with folders in the Dock. Apple is also revamping its Files app with new folder colors and customization options, an updated list view, and the ability to set the default app for opening specific file types.
With macOS 26 Tahoe, Apple is also making its Spotlight app much more capable. Users will be able to perform actions directly from the app, including sending an email, creating a note, or playing a podcast. Apple’s Phone app is also coming to the Mac, except in the EU where iPhone Mirroring is also still unavailable.
