Amazon’s new Alexa+ assistant is continuing its global rollout that started last fall, and it just launched in early access in Brazil. With over 213 million people in the country, this is one of the biggest international launches for the next-gen assistant, which recently became available in more EU countries, including France, Italy, and Spain.
As usual, Amazon has worked with linguists and speech scientists to ensure that Alexa+ understands Brazilian culture, the different accents, and regional expressions. “Alexa+ knows what “saudade” means, understands what you’re saying when you tell it you’re “de boa,” and knows that “táosso” means things are tough. It might even drop a “beleza, resolvido” or “podedeixar” into the conversation,” Amazon explained in the announcement.
Alexa+ is live in Brazil 🇧🇷.
The team worked hard to capture what makes Brazil special, and you can feel it in the experience. Pumped for customers to try it.
Early Access is rolling out starting this week. Check out the details here: https://t.co/1T6bM5imG7 pic.twitter.com/PY2LGdOdmd

In Brazil, Alexa+ can access news from local media organizations such as Folha de São Paulo, G1, Estadão, and CBN. Early adopters can also use the assistant to access products and services from local companies such as Positivo, Intelbras, Elgin, and i2GO, and integrations with Uber, ClickBus, and other services are coming soon.
Just like in other markets where it’s available in early access, Alexa+ is currently free to use; then it will be free with Amazon Prime or priced at R$99,90/month. Following the US in February, Canada became the second market last week where Alexa+ is out of early access, with a local price of $27.99 CAD per month for non-Prime members.
Personally, I signed up for early access for the French version of Alexa+ on May 26, but I’m still waiting as of today. If you can’t wait, you can access the new experience by purchasing one of the latest Amazon Echo speakers or smart displays that Amazon released in September.
